The Plug

Draft for review · intended initial launch: South Africa

Pre-release review copy — not final. The legal-notice address, retention and backup periods, provider and transfer details, production feature checks, and launch-country review are still outstanding. Do not use this as a final public-release policy.

Terms of Service

Effective date

Draft dated 21 October 2026. These Terms must be finalized and an effective date published before public launch.

1. About The Plug

The Plug is operated personally by Jurgens Human and not through a company. No home address is published. A suitable non-residential service or mailing address for legal notices must be confirmed before public launch.

Support and privacy contact: akajurgiii@gmail.com

In these Terms, “The Plug”, “we”, “us” and “our” refer to the operator identified above. “You” and “your” refer to the person using the app.

The Plug is a shop and product discovery platform where users can share product photographs, discover shops and products, and follow or unfollow other users. The intended initial launch market is South Africa. Availability in other countries requires a separate legal and operational review.

2. Accepting these Terms

By selecting the acceptance checkbox when registering, you agree to these Terms of Service and our Community Guidelines. Our Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store and share personal information. Acknowledging the Privacy Policy and accepting these Terms does not constitute blanket consent to optional advertising, tracking or marketing. Marketing consent is separate and optional. If you do not agree to these Terms, you must not create an account or use the service.

3. Age requirement

You must be at least 18 years old and legally able to enter into this agreement to create an account or use The Plug. You must not provide false information about your age or create an account for someone who does not meet this requirement. The in-app age check is self-declared and does not independently verify identity or age. If we reasonably suspect that an account belongs to someone under 18, we may restrict it while investigating and close accounts that do not meet the age requirement.

4. Your account

You must provide accurate registration information and keep your account details up to date. You are responsible for keeping your login details secure and for activities you authorise through your account. Notify us promptly if you suspect unauthorised access.

You must not impersonate another person, shop or organisation; use another person’s account without permission; create accounts to evade a suspension or ban; use misleading details to suggest an official relationship with a retailer; or buy, sell or manipulate followers or account activity.

5. What The Plug provides

The Plug currently lets users upload and publish product photographs and find details, discover shops and products, follow and unfollow other accounts, and open a shop location in a maps service for directions. The app does not currently provide videos, comments or private messaging.

The Plug is free for ordinary users. Your mobile network or internet provider may charge for data. We do not currently sell products, process purchases or collect payments through the app. Purchases made from a shop are separate transactions between you and that shop.

6. Your photographs and posts

You retain ownership of your original photographs and other content. You must own your content or have the rights and permissions necessary to upload it and allow its use under these Terms.

By uploading content, you grant The Plug a non-exclusive, royalty-free, worldwide licence to host, store, reproduce, resize, display and distribute that content only as reasonably necessary to operate, secure and provide the service. This includes displaying your posts to users and enabling ordinary app sharing features. We may allow our contracted service providers to process your content for these purposes, subject to appropriate safeguards.

This licence does not transfer ownership of your content. It does not authorise us to sell your photographs, use them in separate retailer advertising campaigns or use them to train general-purpose artificial intelligence models. Those uses require a separate appropriate agreement.

The licence ends when your content is removed from our active service, except for necessary backups, lawful preservation and reasonable technical removal delays described in our Privacy Policy. We cannot recall copies independently saved or shared by others while your content was publicly available.

7. Photography and privacy

Respect shop photography rules, staff instructions, private property and other people’s rights. Do not upload identifiable children; another person’s private address or contact details without a lawful basis; payment information, identity documents or other confidential records; or information intended to expose someone’s movements or private life.

Avoid including identifiable bystanders, faces or vehicle number plates. Crop or blur unnecessary personal information and obtain permission where required. A photograph, shop location and posting time may reveal where you have been, even though The Plug does not display your device’s GPS location to other users.

8. Public content and following

Your published posts, associated shop details and public profile information are visible to other users as explained in our Privacy Policy.

Other users may be able to copy or share publicly available content. Only publish information you are comfortable making public.

You may follow or unfollow other accounts. Following someone does not create a private relationship, an endorsement or permission to contact them outside the app. The current app does not provide direct user-to-user blocking or an in-app account-reporting control. You may report a community find in the app or email support about an account or other concern.

9. Acceptable use

You must use The Plug lawfully and comply with our Community Guidelines. You must not upload, promote or distribute content that is unlawful, fraudulent or materially misleading; infringes copyright, trademarks or other rights; contains threats, harassment, hate speech or discriminatory abuse; contains sexually explicit material or graphic violence; unlawfully exposes personal or confidential information; impersonates a person, retailer or organisation; promotes counterfeit products, illegal goods or dangerous wrongdoing; or promotes weapons, tobacco, vaping, alcohol, gambling, adult services or other age-restricted products through the service.

You must not interfere with the app’s security, introduce malicious software, scrape personal information, manipulate activity or attempt unauthorised access. Automated access requires our permission unless applicable law permits it.

10. Product information and shop listings

Posts may be created by independent users and may contain errors or become outdated. Prices, offers, stock availability, opening hours and shop locations can change. Confirm important details directly with the retailer before travelling or making a purchase. Do not present a price, offer or stock claim as current unless you have a reasonable basis for doing so.

The appearance of a retailer, brand or product on The Plug does not mean that the retailer has partnered with us or endorsed the post. Retailer names, logos and trademarks remain the property of their respective owners.

11. Location search and maps

The Plug does not currently access your device’s live GPS location. If you search for a branch, the shop name and area you enter are sent to Photon to return location suggestions. If you select a branch, its coordinates are attached to that find. You can enter an area manually instead.

When you select directions, The Plug opens Google Maps or another maps service with the selected shop destination. That provider handles its service and any information you provide under its own terms and privacy policy. Check the destination and route before travelling. We do not guarantee the accuracy of external maps, routes, opening hours or conditions at a destination. Use navigation safely and comply with road and traffic rules.

12. Advertising and sponsored content

The Plug does not currently offer paid advertising or sponsored placements. If these are introduced, paid placements will be clearly identified as “Advertisement”, “Sponsored” or an equivalent label, and will be governed by applicable privacy choices and a separate advertising agreement where relevant. An advertisement will not constitute our guarantee or endorsement of a retailer, product, price or offer. Users must prominently disclose payment, gifts or other commercial incentives connected to promotional posts. Purchasing advertising will not entitle a retailer to remove lawful user content or obtain users’ personal information.

13. Reporting content

You may report a community find using the in-app report control. The app does not currently provide an in-app control to report an account. To report an account or another concern, email akajurgiii@gmail.com with the relevant username or find details and a brief explanation. Do not include unnecessary sensitive information.

The operator aims to review reports within 24 hours. This is a target, not a guarantee of removal or resolution, and must be supported by an operational moderation process before public launch.

We review reports under these Terms and our Community Guidelines. Reporting content does not automatically require us to remove it. Do not submit knowingly false or malicious reports.

14. Moderation and account restrictions

We may remove content, limit its visibility, issue warnings, restrict features or suspend or close accounts where reasonably necessary to:

• Address a breach of these Terms or our Community Guidelines.
• Protect users’ privacy, rights or safety.
• Respond to fraud, security threats or other abuse.
• Comply with applicable law or valid legal requirements.

We may act immediately where a concern is serious or urgent.

Where lawful and practical, we will explain material enforcement decisions and provide an opportunity to request review.

To request review, email akajurgiii@gmail.com, identify the decision and explain why you believe it should be reconsidered. The operator aims to review reports and appeals within 24 hours.

15. Deleting your account

You may permanently delete your account in the app by opening Profile and selecting Delete account. If you cannot access the app, use the public account-deletion page at https://the-plug-legal.pages.dev/account-deletion.html to request deletion by email from the address registered to your account.

The deletion flow is designed to remove the account, profile, finds, find reports, follows and uploaded photos from active service systems. Moderation audit entries may remain after account deletion; they contain account identifiers, action details, reasons and timestamps, and currently have no automatic expiry. The retention purpose, access limits and period must be set and disclosed before launch. The photo-removal and database-deletion behavior, and the treatment of provider copies, must be verified against the release service before launch. Limited information may be retained where required by law or reasonably necessary for security or dispute resolution. Backup copies may remain until they expire under the configured provider retention settings; the actual periods and deletion request response times have not yet been confirmed and must be published in the final Privacy Policy. Content independently saved or shared by others may remain outside our control.

16. Availability and future changes

We use reasonable care in operating The Plug but cannot promise uninterrupted access or that every user post is accurate. We may temporarily interrupt access for maintenance, repairs, security measures or circumstances outside our reasonable control. We may introduce, change or discontinue features and will provide reasonable advance notice of material changes where practical, except where urgent legal or security circumstances require immediate action.

Any future paid user feature will require separately disclosed pricing and affirmative agreement. These Terms do not authorise automatic charges. If we discontinue the service, we will provide reasonable notice and an opportunity to request your information where practical and legally required.

17. Important limits on responsibility

To the extent permitted by applicable law, we are not responsible for losses caused solely by independent retailers, users or external service providers where we have not caused or contributed to that loss through a breach of our duties. You remain responsible for unlawful content you personally upload.

Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability for our fraud, wilful misconduct or gross negligence, death or personal injury where liability cannot lawfully be excluded, or any other non-excludable duty or remedy. We do not require you to waive statutory consumer or privacy rights. Any limitation applies only to the extent that it is lawful and fair in your circumstances.

18. Privacy

Our Privacy Policy explains our handling of account details, photographs, location information, technical records and support communications. Contact the operator at akajurgiii@gmail.com to exercise applicable privacy rights or raise a privacy concern. The identity and contact details of any Information Officer, and any applicable registration requirements, must be confirmed before public launch. Optional permissions and any legally required consent must be requested separately. Accepting these Terms does not waive your privacy rights.

19. Complaints and disputes

Contact akajurgiii@gmail.com so we can try to resolve a complaint. This does not prevent you from approaching a competent regulator, ombud or court, or seeking urgent legal relief. South African law governs these Terms, subject to mandatory protections that apply in your country of residence. Courts with lawful jurisdiction may hear disputes. These Terms do not require you to surrender any mandatory right to use your local courts.

20. Updates to these Terms

We may update these Terms to reflect changes to the service, business operations or applicable law. We will publish the updated effective date and provide reasonable notice of material changes through the app or an appropriate account contact. We will request fresh acceptance where legally necessary or where a change materially alters our agreement with you. Changes do not retrospectively remove rights that have already accrued.

21. General provisions

If a provision is found unenforceable, the remaining provisions continue to apply where legally possible. A delay in enforcing a provision does not, by itself, waive the right to enforce it later. These Terms and the Community Guidelines govern your use of The Plug, subject to any additional agreement you separately accept for a particular service.
